Friday 16th June - walk **** Levington to Nacton Shores - sunny and hot.
Another hot day in Felixstowe with not a cloud in the sky, no early start
today for our walk so had a nice morning at home, exercises in the back
garden, my knees have calmed down a little! I then pack a picnic and we
head inland parking at Levington Creek to walk the short distance up the
hill to have our lunch near the church. No deer to be seen today, must be
too hot for them although there seems a good breeze blowing up the hill
with several yachts out on the River Orwell below. It is too hot to sit
long so we head down to the wooden walkway through the reeds, actually
spotting a few deer in the distance. Reaching the river path, we turn right
towards Nacton Shores. Then near the woods we spot a deer quite close who
then runs off with a fawn in tow, just lovely:) The winding part in the
trees where you are soon high above the water in the best bit and we see
several spotted woodpeckers with young high in the trees! Just short of
Nacton Shores we go down onto the foreshore with plenty of beach to walk on
with the tide low, lovely and quiet too. Then back around Levington Creek
where a family of geese walk down the mud to the water with shell ducks
too. Home for a cuppa and cake and to rest my legs which are now aching as
we had walked just over three miles. We might have the lovely Maeva for a
day over the weekend and fingers crossed we get some rain as we are in
desperate need of some as haven?t had any for a month now!
